I always loved Valentine’s Day and enjoyed creating activities that were Montessori oriented but had a Valentine’s Day theme. Using a seasonal theme adds new interest to practical life activities and any curriculum area.
Counting Coconuts is always a great source for seasonal Montessori-inspired activities. The photo is an example of a simple open and close basket – but with a Valentine’s Day theme (and heart-shaped erasers inside each container), making the activity come to life again. Here’s the link to all the wonderful Montessori-inspired Valentine’s Day posts from Counting Coconuts. You’ll notice that many of the activities are easy to prepare … well-worth putting on your shelves for the two weeks before Valentine’s Day!
Here are links to some other wonderful Montessori-inspired Valentine’s Day activities from around the blogosphere (sometimes you’ll even get the bonus of additional activities within one post!):

Ooooooo, great stuff! Have you ever heard of the Heroic Journey? It’s a montessori program for middle or high schoolers. My kids did that, it was awesome!
Deb says
Thanks so much for your comment, Sheila! I think the Heroic Journey is an awesome addition to a traditional Montessori curriculum for middle or high schoolers. A rite of passage program is amazing – and the Heroic Journey seems like one of the best. It’s so great that your kids were able to experience it!
