Here’s a great Montessori-inspired activity to add as you and your family prepare for Christmas (great for birthdays or events like Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, too). It’s from the former My Montessori Journey blog and functions as a practical life activity, courtesy practice, and way to help your child learn how to wrap the gifts he or she will be giving over the holidays.
I love that this activity can be used to reinforce a courtesy lesson on How to Teach Your Child to Say Thank You for Holiday Presents. And after your child has practice wrapping gifts, your child can use the gift wrapping work to wrap any presents he or she wants to give for the holidays.
There’s another fun variation of gift wrapping work at Sunrise Learning Lab, emphasizing a different set of skills.
