I have been doing some things with my granddaughter at home, but I’m now looking into a Montessori school. What should I be looking for? I found one, but the class had 25 kids in it! She just turned 3 and I thought that was way to many kids. Also, I observed for a while and one child(3 year old) was in a “time out” for at least 15 minutes. Does that seem right? Or I am just being a “grandma”? I appreciated any tips you have about looking for a school. Thank you for all you do. I get your emails and luv them.
Pat

i have been foloowing your blog for a while now, and i must say it has been very inspiring! I am a montessori teacher and your ideas and experience have helped alot in the classroom. I have been trained from 2-6, but now as a new mother I now follow your blog for different reasons.. 😉

Needless to say with infancy im stumped! I was wondering your opinions on healthy sleeping habbits. My baby is 2 months now and we still keep her in a bassinet beside our bed. when and how do you suggest we transition her into her own bed, keeping in mind breastfeeding is top priority. also it breaks my heart to let her cry till she falls asleep.

Thank you again for all that you are sharing.

Hi Layla! Thanks for your kind comment. Your site looks wonderful! I’m sorry, but my blogging schedule has become too full to do any guest blogging. Also, my readers typically prefer me to stay on my blog as much as possible. Good luck with your site! 🙂 Deb

Hi Erica! It’s true that not all schools honor distance-based learning. Do you have a Montessori school in your area where you’re interested in working? I know a number of people have asked what requirements a specific school had before starting an online training program. That’s often best, since it can vary so much from school to school. You’ll typically find the most specific requirements in an AMI school and sometimes in an AMS school. I hope that helps. Good luck! Deb

Hi Elizabeth! Sorry I didn’t find this sooner. That sounds like normal behavior at that age. Babies at that age typically have a real need to be moving a lot and developing their muscles for walking.

With baby or young toddler, you’ll often want to introduce a toy or activity and then sit back and observe how she plays with it. If she’s concentrating, that’s when it’s especially important not to disturb her concentration. At other times, you can do an activity with her. You might enjoy our free webinar with information about using Montessori at home (and introducing the Montessori Crash Course): https://livingmontessorinow.com/2015/03/14/montessori-crash-course-free-training/

I also have many posts and YouTube videos with lessons and activities for toddlers. You can find them here: https://livingmontessorinow.com/tag/toddler/. Have fun with your little one! 🙂 Deb

Hi Pippa! I just found this. What fun coincidences! I didn’t meet Pam Torry. I only got my master’s degree at Sheffield Hallam University. I think she might be a lecturer in the undergrad program.

I think you can integrate Reggio with Montessori within one room. I know a number of homeschoolers have had good luck doing that. Wishing you the best! 🙂 Deb

When my daughter was studying preschool in a Montessori school in CA, I was inspired to launch my company, Chef Koochooloo, an international educational platform that teaches kids math, science and geography through cooking. Like the Montessori method, I think hands on is the best way to learn. Thanks for all of your insightful posts.
Would you let us know if you would be interested in being a guest blogger on our company’s blog? (Maybe the perspective of a Montessori teacher on why it is important to cook with kids?)

I have an early childhood education degree but am not interested in teaching in public school anymore. I have 3 children so online would be easiest for me but I have read that not all schools honor distance based learning. thanks for any help!
