Winter is obviously a perfect time for winter activities including snow, ice, snowmen, cold weather, and animals in winter. Of course, winter is also a great time to study the Arctic and Antarctica. And an Arctic/Antarctic unit works very well for multi-level learning. If you follow the links below, you’ll find hundreds of resources and activities to help you prepare a Montessori-inspired Arctic and Antarctic unit.

Here’s a link to continent map work to help your child identify continents before you start an Arctic/Antarctic unit. I also have a roundup of Montessori Continent Boxes. This would be a great time to start an Antarctica continent box. You could also focus on Arctic items for your North America box.

This looks like a lot of fun. My sister is doing a little preschool work with her daughter who starts school this coming fall. I’m going to send her the link to this activity – even her older kids would enjoy doing some of this after school (she has a daycare in her home).
Thanks for sharing! Tina ‘the book lady’
PS: I just did a review for Vanishing Cultures that you might enjoy on Classic Children’s Books –

What a fantastic list of resources. I love it! I can’t wait to start something like this with my 3 year old. She’s a little young for continent boxes, but I’m itching to do that with her when she gets a little older. There are some really fun activities that would be good for her age, too.
Debbie says
Love the ideas, especially the Arctic Sensory Box! Pinned it!

I think the labeling activity is one of my favorites! We are on a penguin kick and this collection is fabulous! Thanks for adding it to the Afterschool Linky this week. I hope it inspired more penguin themed activities this winter!!!

We just finished our Penguin unit a few weeks ago, but I will Pin this so I can have it for the next time we go through it (we use My Father’s World and I have 2 little ones who will be using the Kindergarten level in a couple of years). I will share this with my MFW-K FB group though. I am sure there are plenty of mommies there who still have to do P:Penguin and may find this helpful.
Thanks for sharing.
