Montessori-Inspired Printables at Living Montessori Now
My daughter, Christina (a former Montessori child), and I have partnered to bring you a series of Montessori-inspired printables. The printables are typically themed and use a number of Montessori principles (although you don’t need to be a Montessori teacher or homeschooler to use them):
- They use isolation of quality.
- They use photographs or realistic images to emphasize reality.
- They typically use traditional Montessori colors such as red for consonants and blue for vowels.
- They emphasize lowercase letters, which are what we introduce letter sounds with in Montessori education. (Children tend to pick up the uppercase letters without being introduced if they’re introduced to the lowercase letter sounds.)
- They often feature themed printable versions of Montessori materials.

Ideas for Using Thank You for Planet Earth (or Thank You, Planet Earth) Mindfulness Cards and Booklet
There are so many different ways you can use these printables. Here are just a few:
After a nature walk to collect flowers, my grandkids Sophia (2 years old), Caleb (2 years old), and Zoey (6 years old) had fun making a flower sensory bottle (flower calming bottle) to go with the “Thank you for flowers” mindfulness card.
Zoey arranged some of the flowers in a vase to go with the card. We also used a dotted tracing page from the cursive booklet that says “Thank you for flowers.” First, Zoey built the sentence using our cursive movable alphabet. Then she traced the sentence on the page. (Note: If you noticed that this page image is different from the one in the final pack, it’s because I took the photo before the pack was published. I ended up finding a photo of wildflowers that I liked better, which is in the final pack.)
This is the small mindfulness area on the shelf that I prepared using the “Thank you for flowers” manuscript card with the flower sensory bottle (calming bottle).
At another time, I set up a small mindfulness area using the “Thank you for rocks” mindfulness card along with a basket of beach rocks and the Japanese sand garden I had from other mindfulness/peace education activities.
Zoey loved working with the materials! She spent a long time making different designs in the sand using the zen garden rakes and then using the rocks for zen balancing rocks.
These are the Montessori-friendly books you see behind Zoey on the shelf in the photo. I love the way they go so well with the mindfulness cards.
This is a display I prepared for my toddler grandkids. I used the lovely Montessori-friendly board book I’m Thankful Each Day with the booklet I made from a number of the pages. (Note: The book I’m Thankful for Each Day is a religious book thanking God for the “joys of each day.”)
For the booklet, I cut off the outer border for simplicity. You can leave it on if you prefer, but I just use that for vocabulary cards or mindfulness display cards.
Caleb and Sophia love looking at the “Thank You for Planet Earth” booklet. Here, they’re looking at the “Thank you for fruits” page. They both love strawberries, and Caleb was telling Sophia about getting strawberries at the farmers’ market!
For toddlers, you could create matching cards using 2 sets of some of the cards in the pack. Just choose whichever pages you want to use!
Tracing cards or tracing booklets can be prepared using either the manuscript or cursive printables. Individualize however you wish! 🙂
