I had fun putting together a practical life and sensorial activity for Easter. It also includes a rainbow theme. I’m calling it an Easter egg rainbow.
This activity could work especially well even before St. Patrick’s Day when Easter is in March or early April.

Easter Egg Rainbow Activity
This activity was very easy to prepare once I had the materials. I used an inexpensive glass chicken and decorative eggs from Michaels craft store (could use miniature colored eggs from Amazon), 6 colors of plastic egg halves to hold the sorted eggs, a strawberry huller from Montessori Services, a medium-size tray from Montessori Services, and free printable color box 3 from Montessori Album. I used a small hemmed work rug from Montessori Services for the layout.
Note: Instead of using miniature eggs, you could have a variety of miniature objects in the colors you select.
I used 5 of each color (from 1 package) of decorative eggs, so this could be used as a counting activity, too. Using the strawberry huller to transfer the eggs from the chicken to each of the plastic egg halves is a great practical life activity for concentration and fine-motor coordination.
The color sorting or grading activity can easily be adapted according to the age and skill level of the child or children using the activity. In the photo, I cut the color box 3 printable into strips and laid them on the rug from darkest to lightest as an introduction to color grading for young preschoolers. Older preschoolers, kindergarteners, and even first graders could enjoy grading the cut-apart color tablets from darkest to lightest below the plastic egg halves.
I placed the egg halves and color-grading strips from left to right according to rainbow colors to create the rainbow effect.
