I absolutely love living in San Diego. But one thing I miss about living in a snowy climate is the pretty colored leaves in the fall. So I was excited to discover new ways to create easy, colorful fall leaves for any climate! Thanks to an idea I saw on Coffee Cups and Crayons, my 4½-year-old granddaughter, Zoey, and I had fun creating colorful fall leaves using chalk markers!

Nature Walk to Collect Leaves
This activity was part of our mini fall unit. We love nature walks, so that’s where we started. My daughter, Christina, and her baby, Caleb, came along with us for the nature walk. I wore Baby Sophia (Zoey’s sister) while Christina wore Baby Caleb during the walk. The babies enjoyed looking at and feeling leaves while Zoey did the leaf gathering.
We don’t have traditional fall leaves right now.

and lots of green leaves.
Creating Easy, Colorful Chalk Marker Leaves
We made the process of decorating the leaves as simple as possible.
From the reviews I read, Loddie Doddie chalk markers are supposed to have exceptionally vivid colors.
Having Fun Creating Colorful Chalk Marker Leaves
The reviews were right! It was such a simple, clean, fun experience! I just had to follow easy directions to get the chalk markers started. Then Zoey decorated a number of colorful leaves (until we ran out of time). She’s planning to do more!
I decorated some leaves later on and experimented with laminating them. I think they’re pretty left as is or laminated.
This was definitely one of my favorite art projects for multiple ages … and it’s a great way to enjoy colorful fall leaves anywhere!
