February is Heart Health Month or American Heart Month … a great time for a unit study of the human heart and circulatory system! You could just put out a few heart activities in honor of the month, or your heart unit could be part of a thorough study of anatomy.
Here are some great Montessori-inspired resources for a heart and circulatory system unit. They aren’t all designed as Montessori activities, but they’re hands-on activities that would work well in a Montessori program or homeschool.

I love any hands-on activity, but I feel like this sort of concrete work is more important in the sciences than most anywhere else. These are fantastic ideas!
Deb says
Thanks, Melissa! I totally agree about the sciences … I wish my science education would have been hands-on. I’m sure I would have enjoyed science much more. 🙂

The Homeschool Den says
Hi Deb, Thanks so much for including our heart/circulatory activity! My kids really had a great time with that activity-racing the blood around and flipping the tiles from blue to red and back again as oxygen was gained and lost. They still talk about it!
Thanks for all the hard work you do putting these posts together for all of us. ~Liesl
