Teaching reading is much easier with a systematic method for teaching phonics, such as the pink, blue, and green series used by many Montessorians. Today, I’m reviewing the Montessori Print Shop blue language series materials … step 2 in the pink, blue, and green language series!
Disclosure: Montessori Print Shop is one of my blog sponsors. I was given a copy of the Montessori Print Shop Montessori Blue Language Series Bundle. My opinion is honest and my own. This post also contains some affiliate links (at no cost to you).
Note: You can see all the Montessori Print Shop language bundles here. I reviewed the Green Language Series last year, and the pink language series is a natural starting point! My preference with the pink, blue, and green series materials is the photo printables. I prefer the photos since I’ve found that most young children are drawn to them.

Examples from the Montessori Print Shop Blue Language Series Bundle
Here are just a very few ideas using some of the printables from the Blue Language Series Bundle.
Words and Picture Cards
This is my 5-year-old granddaughter, Sophia, matching the blue series word and picture cards. There are 8 sets of word and picture cards, which can be used in the sets according to the pages they’re on or mixed in random order. Each set has 6 word and picture cards.
Sentence Cards
This shows the blue series sentence cards with visual prompts. There are also sentence cards without visual prompts. The photos could also be separated from the sentences to make another reading and matching activity.
Blue Series Spelling Cards Cut Apart and Used with Movable Alphabet
The blue words spelling cards can be used as a spelling and writing activity. I especially like this for children who are ready for actual spelling work (as opposed to invented spelling). For a child who isn’t comfortable writing yet but is comfortable using the Montessori movable alphabet, you could have an activity something like this layout. This is also nice for children who get frustrated if they don’t spell a word correctly the first time. They could write the word on a separate card after checking with the spelling control labels if they choose.
My 9-year-old granddaughter, Zoey, enjoys using Stabilo pencils to write the spelling words for her school homework on our patio doors. They come off so easily and are very helpful in practicing spelling words. This could be another way to use the blue series spelling cards, too!
Blue Language Series Instructions
There are many more printables included in the Blue Language Series Bundle. A PDF of Blue Language Series Instructions is included, which is very helpful. And I can’t recommend enough getting the Montessori Print Shop teaching manuals. They have clear instructions for teaching the entire primary language sequence. You can read my review of the teaching manuals here.
The Blue Series Language Bundle from Montessori Print Shop is very adaptable and can be used over and over again! As I said, it’s valued at $31 and priced as a bundle at $24.
