When I was working toward my MA in Early Childhood Studies in England, I enjoyed reading the education newspaper TES each week. TES isn’t available just in the UK, though. The website TES Connect is available worldwide and is better than ever.
Teachers TV Videos
I wrote before about the wonderful Teachers TV videos. After Teachers TV closed in April 2011, TES Connect became one of the few sites that inherited the 3500 Teachers TV videos, which are helpful for both school teachers and homeschoolers.
For example, here’s a Phonics Without Tears video with some great phonics ideas, including actions especially helpful for kinesthetic learners. There are lesson plans included beneath the video on TES Connect.
Teachers TV videos are available for early years through secondary.
Other Resources at TES Connect
At TES Connect, there’s a community (forums), listing of education jobs in the UK and even some worldwide, TES paper, newsletters, and other teaching resources.
TES Connect’s resources are available simply by registering at the site. Once you register, you’ll receive an email with a “Must-Have Classroom Toolkit” (links to printable classroom management and lesson planning resources).
In addition to the videos, the teaching resources include over 68,000 lesson plans and printables for all levels organized by level or by category. Because of my “Activity of the Week – Life Cycle of a Butterfly” post this week, I searched for caterpillar and butterfly resources. I found lots of caterpillar resources, including many on The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I also found lots of butterfly resources, including a free printable Song and Rhymes Book. And here’s a link to the TES Connect Montessori resources.
I’d love to hear what you discover for your students and/or children at TES Connect! 🙂

Deb, this is a great find! I’ve had a quick look and have bookmarked it to come back to. J is really showing an interest in reading letters and numbers and so we want to nurture this as much as possible. I’m looking forward to having more of a look around and seeing what I can find for him.
Thanks 🙂
