A Montessori celebration of life is a truly special birthday tradition in the classroom or at home. Yet, it can feel intimidating to prepare if you haven’t done a Montessori birthday ceremony before … or if you’re asked to prepare a timeline for your child’s celebration of life at school. So today, I’m sharing some free songs and printables that work well for a Montessori celebration of life.

Free Celebration of Life Songs for a Montessori Birthday
One of the versions of “The Earth Goes Around the Sun” to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell” is typically sung while while the birthday child does the birthday walk around the “sun” carrying a globe.
The version my granddaughter sings after a birthday celebration at her Montessori school:
The Earth goes around the sun,
The Earth goes around the sun,
It takes a year to go around,
The Earth goes around the sun!
A similar version:
The Earth goes round the sun,
The Earth goes round the sun,
It takes a whole year for the Earth,
To go around the sun!
A similar version:
The Earth goes around the sun,
The Earth goes around the sun,
It takes a whole year your birthday’s here,
The Earth goes around the sun!
Another possible version sung during each orbit:
The Earth goes around the sun,
The Earth goes around the sun,
The earth goes around sun,
And then (child’s name) was (1)…
Another possible version sung during each orbit:
The Earth goes around the sun,
The Earth goes around the sun,
12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days in a year.
And (child’s name) turns (1)…
To complete the celebration, you can sing “Happy Birthday” or another version of the “Happy Birthday” song.
This version uses the same tune as the “Happy Birthday” song.
We celebrate your birth,
And your place on the Earth,
May the sun, moon, and stars,
Bring you peace where you are! (or Bring peace where you are!)
