Montessori-Inspired Fall Activities with Spielgaben {Free Printables}

Would you like some ideas for preschool fall activities that are easy to prepare, focus on the fall season, and work on a variety of skills? It was simple to prepare some Montessori-inspired fall learning activities using Spielgaben educational toys and free printables.

In case you’re not familiar with Spielgaben toys, they are exceptionally high-quality educational toys designed for ages 3-12. You can see from the photo that the cabinet is very high quality and fits in well in a room with traditional Montessori materials. I love the new, easily removable drawers in version 4. The yarn balls from the 1st Spielgaben set can be used with babies and toddlers, too.

Spielgaben Materials Used in the Train Activities

For these activities, I used the wooden beads from Spielgaben set #2B, wooden parquetry tablets from Spielgaben set #7, and wooden dots (points) from Spielgaben set #10. Note: The yarn balls are fine for babies and toddlers. The other sets should only be used with ages 3 and older unless your toddler no longer mouths objects or you are constantly supervising your toddler during an activity using the materials.

I couldn’t miss the opportunity for a bit of color matching with fall leaf colors. I used the fall tree from the free Montessori-inspired fall printables by The Kavanaugh Report. Matching the colors using the small wooden Spielgaben dots adds a great fine-motor activity. For a control of error, I included the exact colors and numbers of wooden dots needed to complete the patterns. (Note: All the activities here use Multicraft trays.)

I love fall colors, but I was delighted to see some additional colors when my 23-month-old granddaughter, Zoey, arrived at my house wearing her “butterfly princess” costume. TOO CUTE!!! For the layout, Zoey used a Montessori Services small work rug.

The printable for this activity is actually a free printable fall leaves matching game by Mama Miss. So you can use it for that, too! I simply chose some fall colors of the Spielgaben wooden beads and printed and cut out the circles with leaves. I punched two holes in the top of each circle so that the leaves would lay flat. Your child could string the beads and leaves on a string to make a fall necklace.

I think this printable is adorable! It’s from 5 free printable fall shape matching games by Teach With Me. The printable includes a bat and a spider, but I just used the leaf, turkey, and owl.
