Not many of us were very excited about the grammar lessons we had growing up. But it’s natural to be excited about Montessori grammar. Starting out with beautiful hands-on materials, it’s easy for children (and their teachers) to understand and love grammar.
I have some amazing Montessori resources to share with you that will help make grammar lessons a joy for classroom teachers and homeschoolers. There are resources here for advanced preschool through elementary.
Disclosure: I’ve been given a copy of these materials to review. My opinions are honest and my own. This post contains affiliate links (at no cost to you).
I’ve loved all the materials I’ve used from Every Star Is Different.
Here are the Fabulous Grammar Materials Available from Every Star Is Different:
The materials are designed for preschoolers through elementary-age kids with a pack for each grammar symbol … and more!!! The grammar materials include Intro to Grammar, Noun, Verb, Article, Adjective, Adverb, Pronoun, Conjunction, Preposition, and Interjection Printable Packs – 398 pages of printables!!!
This fall, I’ve started working on grammar with my 5-year-old granddaughter, Zoey. We both had a great time reviewing the materials. I’ve been able to look through all the packs … which are amazing and helpful for so many different levels. Zoey and I just did a few of the activities together, but Zoey enjoyed them all.
The materials I used with the Every Star Is Different Grammar Materials:
- I used the Kid Advance 3D Wooden Grammar Symbols with 10 Trays because they’re the closest to the Nienhuis 3D grammar symbols and are lovely but much less expensive. (Note: You really only need 9 grammar symbols (without the number symbol), so I remove the 10th symbol and tray, which allows me to add some of the Every Star Is Different Cards (which fit very well!). Right now, this set isn’t on Amazon, but there are a number of 3D wooden grammar symbol setsavailable even less expensively. I haven’t seen the sets personally, so I can’t make a recommendation.
- I used the Kid Advance 3D Wooden Grammar Symbols with 10 Trays. You’ll find wooden grammar symbols with box on Amazon. I haven’t seen these personally, but I’ve had good luck with Elite Montessori materials. The wooden grammar symbols aren’t essential. Even Neinhuis has paper grammar symbols. If you get the Every Star Is Different Montessori Grammar Bundle, you’ll have printables to use for your grammar symbol work. Zoey is very tactile, so I wanted to get introductory materials that she would especially enjoy. Grammar is important to me (and I LOVE Montessori grammar), so I wanted to be sure she has the most meaningful experience for her favorite learning style.

Zoey really loved our work with Montessori noun materials using the 3D wooden grammar symbols, the wooden noun symbol, and a few different Every Star Is Different grammar printables.
I made a simple noun booklet using 4 of the cards from the Montessori-Inspired Intro to Grammar Printable Pack. There are similar cards for each part of speech. Zoey loves booklets, so I’m using the booklet to focus on the significance of the symbol’s shape and color. I’ll have a similar booklet for each part of speech.
The noun picture and description cards at the top of the layout are also from the Montessori-Inspired Intro to Grammar Printable Pack.
The People, Places, and Things Sort is from the Montessori Grammar: Nouns Printable Pack. Zoey enjoyed the work and loved identifying her favorite images of person, place, and thing at the end.
After that work, we started work on a Montessori grammar book using a printable from the Montessori-Inspired Intro to Grammar Printable Pack. There are a variety of versions available. We did the cover page and the noun page. We did the version where Zoey traces the word “noun” and colors a triangle black for the noun symbol. We’ll add to the book each time we focus on a new part of speech.
There are many, many more activities available in the noun pack. I’m looking forward to studying all about nouns with my grandkids in the upcoming years!
